How to use Personas
This manual explains the current workflow for creating and running synthetic-persona research. We will update it as the product develops.
Quick start
STEP 1
Go to Jobs to create a new research campaign or continue an existing one.
STEP 2
Pick an inspiration template or begin with a blank campaign.
STEP 3
Review the campaign name, product or service, and research objective.
STEP 4
Choose the live persona panel that best fits the question you want to explore.
STEP 5
Save the campaign first, then start the research run when the setup is ready.
STEP 6
Look for themes, assumptions, objections, and missing perspectives in the research responses.
Use an inspiration template
- Open Jobs.
- Find the Inspiration library at the top of the page.
- Select Use template on the template you want.
- The campaign form below is prefilled. Edit the name, product or service, and objective.
- Choose a persona panel, then save the campaign.
Starting with a blank campaign remains available if none of the templates fit your question.
Create and manage campaigns
Campaigns belong to your account. You can revise the research brief before running it.
Review the setup carefully, then start the run. Avoid submitting the same campaign again while a run is active.
Archive campaigns you may need later. Delete only when you no longer need the campaign or its history.
Read results critically
Look for
- Recurring ideas or concerns in the persona perspectives
- Assumptions and claims that need validation
- Differences between persona groups
- Questions, assumptions, or viewpoints that appear to be missing
Review questions
- Does the response reflect the intended audience context?
- What evidence supports the claims?
- What should you investigate with actual customers?
Important: Results are not statistically representative. Treat them as directional and hypothesis-generating only—never as a forecast, advice, or recommendation.
Sources and exports
Use Sources to work with supported Google Drive and Google Docs material.
Before importing, remove unnecessary confidential or identifying information. Review exported documents before sharing them outside your organization.
Confidentiality and safe use
- Model providers and model names remain confidential. New runs use one model, not a parallel model comparison.
- Do not try to identify providers from response style or content.
- Do not include secrets, credentials, unnecessary personal data, or restricted source material in a campaign.
- Campaigns and results are scoped to the signed-in account.
- Use results to develop and test hypotheses, not to make automated decisions about people.
Troubleshooting
A template did not create a campaign
This is expected. Select Use template, complete the form, choose a persona panel, and save.
Account information cannot be checked
Use the retry action shown in the app. If the issue continues, wait briefly and try again.
A run appears interrupted
Return to Jobs and review the campaign status before attempting another run.
Results seem inconsistent
Review the audience context, wording, and assumptions. Synthetic responses can vary; validate important findings through human research.
